COURSE DESCRIPTION

To establish a successful cropping system, we must understand our soil. In this module we look at soil texture, soil quality and how to manage our soils. We will learn about different cultivation systems and their impact on soil quality, seedbed preparation and planting. We will explore soil compaction, soil erosion and soil organic matter content and will review the impact that all of the above have on crop production.

  • Preparation of the seedbed and the sowing & protection of emerging, young seedling
  • How to achieve the optimum population of healthy plants
    Identifying major soil types and how to assess their potential for crop production

Mr. Cleverson Kandawasvika

Technical Training Manager

Cleverson joined AGCO South Africa in 2013 as a technical service specialist (trainer). As Technical Training Manager, he manages technical training for AGCO Africa operations, helping assess the level of technical skills that our dealers and distributors have when using AGCO products and planing appropriate technical training on the products to help improve these skill levels. The training that Cleverson conducts ranges from more basic machinery to high specification tractors and alongside the training that he facilities, Cleverson manages our learning management system (LMS) for Africa. 

 Cleverson has a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Chinhoyi University of Technology and has previously worked at William Bain & Company, The Institute of Agriculture Engineering under the Ministry of Agriculture and Mechanisation and the Agricultural Rural Development Authority.
