From the 28th to the 31st of March 2023, the Martin Richenhagen Future Farm hosted Zambia’s first-ever International Poultry Expo. This event brought together key industry players in the poultry value chain to showcase their innovations geared at sustainable poultry production in Zambia and beyond. The event was hosted on the precipice of bringing together stakeholders in the poultry value chain to showcase and share knowledge on how best to position the sector to take advantage of growth opportunities in Zambia, Africa and globally.

This year, Martin Richenhagen Future Farm in Partnership with Syngenta held a farmers’ field day on Thursday, 30th March 2023. Attendees learnt and shared best practices in Maize and Tomato production, focusing on Land preparation, crop nutrition and protection based on AGCO’s and Syngenta’s product offerings. Some highlighted strategies for farmers included efficient land usage, Nutrient strategies, plant population studies and on-farm enterprises i.e. opportunities in Hay and Silage post-harvest.

On the 12th of December 2023, a team from the Future farm visited Cho Agro dealers in Musika, Chongwe district. We sought to understand how the tractor contracting business we supported them to establish was performing.

On the 13th of October, 2023, Prof. Martin Richenhagen visited the future farm in Zambia. This was his first visit to the farm since its renaming in his honour. Prof Richenhagen officially unveiled the Martin Richenhagen Future Farm in a colourful ceremony witnessed by key stakeholders representing the farming community, private sector, government institutions and academia.

The Future Farm hosted a farmer’s field day in line with its commitment to provide knowledge for sustainable food production and increased individual farm profitability. The event organized by the Future Farm and its partners: Syngenta and SeedCo exposed attendees to modern farming techniques that pave way for the future in agriculture.
